About — Emma Roberts
Hi, I'm Emma.
Let me tell you a bit about me.
I'm a photographer based in Bexleyheath with 15 years of experience behind the camera. I specialise in weddings, maternity, and couples shoots across South East London and Kent — and I do things a little differently to most.

My story
15 years behind the camera — and still as passionate as day one
I've been a photographer for 15 years. In that time I've shot everything — portraits, events, commercial work — but five years ago I found my home in wedding photography, and I haven't looked back.
There's something about weddings that I find endlessly meaningful. You're trusted to capture one of the most important days in someone's life — and that responsibility sits with me every single time I pick up the camera. It's not a job I take lightly. Every wedding I photograph gets the same level of preparation, care, and creative investment, regardless of size or budget.
Alongside weddings I also offer maternity and couples shoots — and the same philosophy applies to both. Every session starts with a conversation. I want to know who you are before I photograph you.
"Photography has always been about people for me. The camera is just a tool — what I'm really doing is building a relationship with the person on the other side of it."

How I work
The conversation always comes first
A lot of photographers will take your booking, confirm the date, and show up. I work differently. Every client relationship starts with a proper conversation, usually well before the session itself.
I'll find out everything I need to know. For weddings, that means the venue, the timeline, the light at different points in the day, which moments matter most, and what you're worried about. For maternity and couples shoots, it means finding out what kind of setting feels right for you.
Then I bring my own creative thinking to the table. I might suggest a particular time of day for the best light. I might know a location around Bexleyheath that would work brilliantly for your shoot. I might have an idea you hadn't considered.
On the day itself, I'm calm, quiet, and unobtrusive. Most clients tell me within the first ten minutes they've forgotten the camera is there. That's exactly the environment I'm always trying to create.

Listen first
Bring the ideas
Keep it natural
Deliver something real
Every session starts with a conversation. I want to understand what matters to you before I pick up the camera — not after.
I don't just take what's in front of me. I think creatively about every session and bring suggestions that take things further than you planned.
I'm not interested in stiff poses or forced smiles. The photos I'm proudest of are the ones where you forgot I was there.
A gallery you'll still love in 20 years. Not polished beyond recognition — just honest, beautiful, and genuinely yours.
My style
Candid and traditional — you don't have to choose
My photography style sits between two things that people sometimes think are opposites: candid documentary and traditional portraiture. In reality they're completely complementary.
Candid documentary means I'm always watching, always ready, always looking for the real moment before it disappears. The laugh that happened by accident. The quiet look between two people.
Traditional portraiture means I also know when to step in, compose a shot carefully, and create something that will stand the test of time. The skill is knowing which one the moment calls for — and after 15 years, that instinct is second nature.
